BEST OF 2008 SO FAR

This is my third list of the year. It is based on releases through June 17th. The Truckers are still number one and it will take a great album to knock them off the pedestal. The highest debut is Old 97's at #4. Other notable debuts are My Morning Jacket at #8, Sonny Landreth at #11 and John Hiatt at #14. The Band of Heathens is WAY too low on your list... this album is NON-boring in its variety, beautiful in its music, and expert in its musicianship and vocals. It is much better than many you list above it. But, you are NOT an idiot!! :-)

Sorry... also... regarding "The Band of Heathens"... the album is already #5 on the Americana Charts. Lots of people feel the same as I do in my post above (i.e. you have them WAY too low on your list). REFRESHING, fun album to listen to.

I think you may be right. I should have the Heathens higher I always struggle to evaluate albums objectively not just based on my tastes. Sometimes I think it makes me rank things too low
